Leslie Thrasher was born in Piedmont, West Virginia in 1889. He attended at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art in 1906 and was awarded a travelling scholarship in 1909. He went to Paris and studied in Europe. In 1910 he returned to the US and studied with Howard Pyle. In 1912 he sold this first cover to THE SATURDAY EVENING POST for $50.
