US Representative Killed By Train In Washington DC

Robert Charles Wickliffe was born in Bardstown, Kentucky in 1877. He graduated from Centre College, Danville, Kentucky, in 1895 and from the law department of Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana in 1897. Aftyer serving as a district attorney he was elected to Congress as a US Representative from Louisiana in March 1909.

On June 11, 1912 he went fishing along the Potomac in Potomac Park. Upon returning despite the sign of warning against trespassing on railroad property there, he was seen to climb an elevation up to the tracks apparently unconscious of the oncoming train. He was struck and instantly killed.
