US Olympic Athletes Depart For 1912 Summer Games In Sweden

The opening ceremonies for the 1912 Olympic Games occurred in May, 1912.


The actual events will begin soon and countries from around the world are sending their Olympic teams to Stockholm, Sweden.

On June 14, 1912 the Red Star Line ship FINLAND left New York harbor bound for Sweden with the US Olympic team to the 1912 Summer Olympic Games in Stockholm. The ship was chartered by the US Olympic Committee. The ship will serve as training and living quarters for the team as it crosses the Atlantic and during the games as well where it will be stationed in Stockholm harbor as a floating hotel.
