30 Perish In Floods In Mexico

Guanajauto, Mexico is a mining town that lies in a narrow gorge. In 1905 a flood killed over 200.

On June 17, 1912 a cloudburst sent a flood racing through town, killing 30. After 1905 a tunnel was cut through the mountains to prevent a repeat of the disaster. Unfortunately it has been proven that the tunnel is too small.
