Candy Store Explodes In New Jersey
Max Perlman is a painter in Paterson, New Jersey who also has a candy store which his wife runs.
On June 18, 1912, Mrs Perlman closed and locked the store for the morning and went out with her children. At 10:40am an explosion took place that wrecked the store and killed one man and injured another. The injured man was seen to be badly burned but jumped from a window and escaped. There was nothing in the candy store that would cause such a blast. Police speculate that the two men were burglars and they caused the explosion themselves.
