Confederate Veterans Gather In Alabama

The Quitman Guards were organized in Holmesville, Mississippi in April 1861 and named after John A Quitman, a hero of the Mexican War of 1840. They became part of Company E Sixteenth Regiment of the Confederate Army during the Civil War.

On June 18, 1912 survivors gather at the home of Mr and Mrs Black of Try, Alabama for a reunion marking the 50th anniversary of the Civil War.
