48 Star US Flag Officially Recognized

A week ago, president William Howard Taft signed an order standardizing the US flag as to design and size. This was done because earlier in the year Arizona and New Mexico were admitted to the United States as new states and a variation of flags were made designed to accommodate the new additions.


On July 4, 1912 the new 48 star flag was made the official flag of the United States. New flags can only be officially added on July 4th. Old flags are never obsolete and can be flown no matter how many star they have. Since the only US territories left are outside the continental US, this new flag should the US flag for some time.
