The 1912 Summer Olympic Officially Begin In Sweden
In May 1912 the Opening ceremonies of the 1912 Summer Olympic games took place in Stockholm, Sweden.
On July 6, 1912 the games themselves were formally opened at the national stadium in Stockholm by declaration of King Gustaf V of Sweden. As a corp of trumpeters sounded, the Swedish royal family entered the stadium to wild cheers. As a large group of singers sang the Swedish national anthem, the athletes walked onto the field carrying their national flag. The 3 man delegation from Japan making their first appearance received a warm welcome. The Crown Prince made a speech then King Gustav V formally announced the commencement of the games.
