The Grain Growers Guide started publishing in western Canada in 1908 to serve Canadian farmers of the plains. It advocated educational reform to improve rural schools, supported the Temperance Movement and Progressive reforms. It was also against the recently passed Protection Tariff between the US and Canada as unfair to western farmers.
