The Tempter by Orson Lowell
Orson Lowell was born in 1871. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, Illinois then moved to New York in 1893. In 1898 he drew 50 illustrations for The Choir Invisible. In 1899 he illustrated a two-volume work called Saracinesca with 100 pen and ink drawings and reproductions of paintings of Italian fountains, ancient buildings and bridges. By 1907 he was employed at Life magazine and a contemporary of Charles Dana Gibson.
