Railroad Town Burns In Canada

Eholt, British Columbia, Canada was founded in 1898 as a Canadian Pacific Railroad headquarters for the hauling of copper mined in nearby Phoenix. Eholt has a population of 300 and with 5 hotels, 3 restaurants, a livery, a butcher shop, a drug store, a clothing and dry goods store, a blacksmith shop and other amenities.

On August 25, 1912 Eholt suffered a fire that destroyed most of its business district. The devastation is so extensive that the Canadian Pacific Railroad is thinking of moving its facilities.
