Postmarked August 28, 1912

The first home in Sayville, Long Island, New York was built in 1761 though the town didn’t have a name until their post office was recognized in 1838. Sayville grew because of timber and oysters but in 1868 the South Side Rail Road arrived and the town became a summer resort destination with many hotels built by 1912.
