That Texas Number of Life – Starring the Lone Star State

Robert J Wildhack was born in August 1881, in Perkin, Illinois. After graduating from Manual Training High School in 1899 Wildhack worked as an illustrator for the Indianapolis Sentinel before moving to New York City in 1901 where he began his art career in New York with a sign painting firm. Wildhack’s drawing and design work caught the editor’s eye at McClure’s magazine. By 1912 Wildhack has become one of the top cover artists and poster artists in America working for The Century, Collier’s, Life, The Reader, Scribner’s, and Success.
