Local Baseball Team On A Sunday In Michigan

Freedom Township is a civil township of Washtenaw County at the southern bottom of the state of Michigan. In 1831 James Hill followed an Indian trail and built a log cabin in the area. Settlers quickly arrived and by 1840 Freedom Township was a thriving community. Many new houses were built in the 1900’s. By 1912 Freedom was large enough to sponsor a baseball team that play local communities.

On September 15, 1912 Freedom Township baseball players defeated the baseball team of Bridgewater Township to the south. – Freedom 8 Bridgeport 4. They posed for a victory photo in front of the Pleasant Lake House.
