US Marines Ordered Home From Cuba

A move for civil rights for Afro-Cubans turned into a deadly race war with over 5,000 black citizens of Cuba killed.

The US chose to believe the Cuban government that this was an action against rebels and sent US Marines to protect US interests.

On July 25, 1912 with the leaders of the insurgent forces killed and the uprising all but over, US Marines stationed at Guantanamo, Cuba were ordered to return home.
